This exceptionally clever tailpiece design was super lightweight, easy to make, and therefore very cheap to produce. It was based on the tailpiece fitted to non-tremolo examples of the earliest Vox SB guitars, manufactured by Guyatone in Japan. It was fitted to the initial version of the Shadow and Stroller (non-tremolo, Guyatone LG-50 style guitars), but also the Clubman. Towards the end of manufacture, circa 1966-67, this part was replaced by a newer 'wedge' tailpiece. Both versions were used in conjunction with a floating wooden bridge.
