Several Italian-made mid sixties Vox basses did not have scratchplate-mounted pickups; rather a chrome mounting ring, which attached to the body itself, as shown here. Two metal clips slide onto each pickup mounting tab, and it is these that are threaded to take the mounting screws. This Vox bass pickup is a sealed unit; easy examination of the coils is not possible. The leads are soldered to tabs on the underside of the plastic pickup casing
