Vox part number 09-1701-0. Mounting (plastic) part 09-1608-0. This pickup was used on several Italian-built basses, branded Elite, Crucianelli, and most notably Vox: those models built by Crucianelli in Recanati, Italy circa 1963-65. These were: the hollow body Escort, with double Florentine cutaways, and the Cougar with double Venetian cutaway. This unit is quite distinct from any UK-produced (JMI) or other Italian (Eko/EME) part, and is not interchangeable with pickups from other Vox models. Crucianelli also manufactured the Lynx and Challenger 6-string guitars with very similar pickups, though, with a different Vox part number (09-1601-0), and differing polepiece arrangement.
The pickup itself consisted two coils on formers around separate non-adjustable polepieces, both above a single magnet. Covers have a black plastic section glued to their underside. Pickups have a baseplate for mounting to the guitar body, with height adjustment achieved through raising or lowering the two cover retaining screws.
Dimensions: length 71mm, width 28mm
Typical resistance: 11.7 kΩ.
