Following on from the EB-0 and EB-3 basses on page 8, page 11 details two more SG-style Gibson solid bass guitars, the Gibson SB-300 and SB-400. Like the SG-100 and SG-200 six-string guitars, these short lived models were only briefly available.
A new long scale bass – the SB-400 – has been added to the range of superb Gibsons. Features include a solid maple neck and body of clear grade poplar with highly polished walnut – non-checking Polycron finish.
The two pick-ups are set in brass mounting rings and are adjustable in height. They are activated by individual slide switches and are free from intermodulation. One volume and one tone control is fitted. The frets are of nickel silver and other metal parts chrome plated. Schaller machine heads with metal winged buttons.
1971 UK prices are shown below. Although these models differed in scale length (30 1/2" for the SB-300, 34 1/2" for the SB-400), they were otherwise identical, so equipped with the same hardware/ number of pickups etc, and are therefore both listed at the same price.
