Selmer 1960 Hofner and Futurama catalogue. Page 11. Details of two non-Hofner solid bodies also being distributed by Selmer, the Futurama 2 and Futurama 3 - both made by CSHN in Czechoslovakia. These were some of the earliest guitars to be badged Futurama, though later Selmer would apply the brand to guitars made by Swedish company Hagstrom.
The Futurama is the worlds most advanced solid guitar. The unique push button controls give you seven tone changes from three matched pick-ups. Built in tremolo gives you vibrato at your own choice of speed and depth by simple up and down movement of the tremolo arm. In addition to the three push buttons, control knobs for tone and volume are fitted. Pick-ups have individually adjustable pole pieces and special bridge design enables microscopic tuning by six individual string adjustments.
1960 UK prices were as follows: Futurama 2 - 35 gns; Futurama 3 - 45 gns.
