Selmer 1960 Hofner and Futurama catalogue. Details of Hofner's entry level solid-body, the Colorama. At this stage, the Colorama was actually a pretty nice guitar, having all of the new features being applied to the rest of the Hofner range. It had one or two 'Super Response' toaster pickups, a set mahogany neck, a nice rosewood fretboard and an adjustable truss rod. Sadly the drive for cheaper production methods resulted in the discarding of many of its nicer features, and by 1962 the Colorama had a bolt-on maple neck, and many also shipped with a cheap looking vinyl body covering. Compare this guitar to the Colorama featured in the 1964 Selmer Catalogue.
The Colorama were the least expensive electrics included in this Selmer catalogue, at 21 gns. for the single pickup model, and 24 gns. for the dual pickup.
