A new look · A new sound · A new idea
Page 22 continues the four-page Hagstrom section of this catalogue, with an unusual bass guitar, the 8-String Bass. Rosetti had been distributing Hagstrom instruments in the UK from at least 1969, taking over from Selmer. The eight string bass (or H-8) was never included in Selmer catalogue, but was heavily promoted by Rosetti. See the 1969 UK Hagstrom/Rosetti exclusive... 8-string bass advert from 1969, that uses much of the same text as used here.
This 8-string bass offers a brand-new sound that gives a bass player the chance to take off on solos and show his stuff. The second set of four strings of this bass are tuned to the same notes but are one octave higher than the standard four strings. The result is a really fantastic sound, fuller, richer, with more variety and versatility than any other bass on the market. The additional advanced of being able to play in octaves by simply depressing one note, provides more speed and ease for new effects. Reverb and vibrato are at the player's fingertips which adds even more dimension to this fantastic instrument. It is the biggest boost in years for solo and group performance. The new exclusive Hagstrom 8-string bass is available in mahogany sunburst finish as well as cherry red.
TUNING of the regular bass strings is 1st or G, 2nd or D, 3rd or A and 4th or E. The other set of strings has exactly the same tuning, only one octave higher.
The 1971 price for the 8-string bass was £80.
