Matsumoku-made guitars, irrespective of branding had a lot of hardware in common. Pickups, bridges, tailpieces, tuners, strap buttons, control knobs and scratchplates were fitted to a very wide variety of guitars sold around the world with different branding. Some marques (for example Epiphone, Dorado) were very nicely appointed; others far less so, but pretty much all of them had at least some hardware and/or construction features in common. If you are wondering where your vintage Japanese guitar was made, comparing hardware with that of known Matsumoku models can be a great help.
This page is still very much under development, but describes in detail some of the guitar components fitted to Matsumoku instruments
