Continuing the 1968 Guild Starfire line from page 2, page 3 shows the single cutaway Starfire II and Starfire III, double cutaway Starfire IV and the accompanying Guild Starfire bass. The Starfire II and III were only available in translucent Cherry Red finish as standard, with Sunburst also an option for the Starfire IV and Starfire bass. Of course all Starfire guitars were also available in several custom finishes ($20 premium in 1968): Emerald Green, Ebony Grain, Amber, Black and Brown.
This was the first Guild catalog to include the dual pickup Guild Starfire bass.. and other than the image of this bass and the associated description, this page is effectively identical to the the equivalent page in the 1965 and 1966 Guild catalogs.
The Starfire IV is described as follows:
Highly popular Starfire introduced because of the preference of many young guitarists for the graceful lines of the double cutaway body. Model SF-IV has double pick-ups with 2 tone and 2 volume controls, and toggle switch for pick-ups.
June 1968 US prices for these guitars were as follows: Starfire II $345; Starfire III $395; Starfire IV $395; Starfire Bass $350; Starfire Bass II $420. Actually June 1968 was the final price list inclusion of the Starfire II (it was not included in the October 1968 price list).
