Guild 1963 catalog page 5: double pickup electrics. This page shows three dual pickup Guild electric acoustics that had been in the line since the 1950s: the full-body Guild X-175 Manhattan, CE-100D Capri, and the thinline T-100D Slim Jim.
This page is very similar to the equivalent page in the 1965, 1966 and 1968 Guild catalogs - except for prices and the choice of cases listed as available for each of the three instruments. These later catalogs also mention the change to Guild humbucking pickups (for the Manhattan and Capri), though the same guitar images are used as on this page - i.e. white covered single coil 'Frequency Tested' pickups.
The X-175 Manhattan is described as follows:
A strikingly beautiful and musically perfect Guild Guitar ...an outstanding example of professional tone quality, responsiveness and versatility. Equipped with 2 built-in Guild "Frequency Tested" pick-ups, perfectly balanced and aligned. Has separate tone and volume controls for each pick-up, with a toggle switch for instantaneous selection of either or both. Individual string adjustment screws provide perfect tonal balance. Sides and back are of select maple. Top is finest spruce. Ivoroid-bound body is 17" wide by 21" long by 3 1/2" deep. Has a fast-action neck of 3-piece Honduras mahogany and an adjustable neck rod. Imported rosewood Ivoroid-bound fingerboard has 8 large position markers and popular professional scale. Heavily nickel-plated deluxe tailpiece, individual non-slip pegs and accessories. rimed with Guild EA-610 Strings.
All three of these guitars were available in Sunburst and Blonde finishes, with a slight premium for Blonde. In 1963, US prices for these guitars were as follows: Manhattan X-175: Sunburst $390, Blonde $410; Capri CE-100D Sunburst $315, Blonde $330; Slim Jim T-100D Sunburst $265, Blonde $280.
