The Guild Stuart X-500 was a particularly fine Guild electric acoustic archtop, and one of the brand's earliest models - first available in 1953. It sported dual pickups, gold-plated hardware and a single Venetian cutaway. With many of Guild's luthiers ex-Epiphone employees, it is no wonder that an influence of this older company would extend into Guild's early designs. And the Stuart X-500 has a lot of similarities to the early 1950s (i.e. pre-Gibson) Epiphone Zephyr De Luxe. The Guild X-500 was a great quality guitar, and although it evolved somewhat over its years of production, remained in the Guild line right into the 1980s.
