The 1968 Gretsch catalogue "That Great Gretsch Sound" (or catalog no. 33) featured the the entire Gretsch range of electric semi-acoustic guitars and basses, solid bodies, acoustics, and amplifiers over 36 pages, with pride of place going to the highly elaborate White Falcon. Included are 12 electric guitar models, 6 acoustics, 4 basses and 15 amplifiers.
Most appropriately for the times, the catalog is full colour throughout with subtly psychedelic artwork on just about every page.
Gretsch had added several new models to their line since the previous 1965 "Spectacular Sound of the Times" catalog (#32), most notably the Gretsch Rally, 12-string and three new bass models, 6071, 6072 and 6073. There are some deletions too, most notably the Gretsch Astro Jet that was removed from the line around 1967, with other model ranges simplified. For example this brochure only offers one variant of the Gretsch Corvette, compared to three in the previous catalog. The amplifier line has changed significantly, with new solid state models, and several older combos now sold with separate head / speaker cabinet.
The 1968 Gretsch catalog features the following guitars and basses. Click on the images for full size versions, or click on the model names below to go directly to that page.
