Page 7 is the first of two pages detailing Gretsch bass guitars. On this page are the two short scale (listed as 29") bass guitars. Unlike most of the guitar models, the basses have no actual name, only the numerical model designation: the single pickup Gretsch 6071 and the dual pickup Gretsch 6073. Both are hollow body guitars, with faux f-holes, a single venetian cutaway, and a distinctive new headstock. Only available in Red Grained Mahogany finish. These models were companions to the long scale double cutaway bass models shown on the next page.
The single pickup 6071 was first included in price lists in early 1966, the 6073, not until 1968(?) This was the first catalog appearance of either model. The April 1968 list price for these two basses was $350 and $395 respectively.
As the "boomers" that set the standards for future hollow body electric bass design, Gretsch electric basses have a lot going for them. They give you the mellowest, most resonant and thickest bass sounds at any volume.
