Page 23, or the inside back cover is in full color. It shows the newly available Gretsch Viking and pictures the Astro Jet, previously described on page 8. These are both new additions to the Gretsch guitar line, making their debut catalog appearance here; though in fact, the only appearance for the Astro Jet, which would be deleted just two years later.
The Viking was a very nice guitar indeed, second only in price to the White Falcon, shown on page 3. It was a 17" wide 2" thick double cutaway hollowbody, just like the Country Gentleman or White Falcon, and had Gretsch's patented "T" Zone Tempered Treble, again like the White Falcon. It differed from both, having two Super'Tron pickups:
The Viking was available in three finish options, PX6187 Sunburst, as illustrated; PX6188 Clear Natural and PX6189 Cadillac Green. Listed prices (US, 1965) were $675 for the Natural, and $650 for the other finishes.
