Throughout the last two decades, the mainstream of contemporary music has established a multiplicity of electric guitar sounds, or voicings, that have become an integral part of the music itself. A major portion of these sounds, or voices, have always been available, and indeed, were created by Gibson guitars. In the forefront of course, were the Les Paul guitars and the ES series, most notably the ES-335. However, even with the many variations on the Les Paul theme, the more recent expansion of the already very versatile ES series, plus the addition of several new solid body instruments, there has not been a single guitar from any one maker, that the serious player could take on stage, or to the recording studio, and meet all the musical criteria demanded.
