The Les Paul Artist was the Moog-circuitry equipped active version of the Les Paul. It had a very short production period, only appearing in two price lists, June 1979, and July 1980 - in both cases listed at $1299. The text and image reproduced here are taken directly from the 1980 Gibson Guitars catalog.
The Moog circuitry included the same bright mode and expansion/compression circuitry as fitted to the RD Artist, SG Artist, ES Artist, and Firebird II.
With so many Les Paul options available at this time, and the quite significant price tag, sales were not huge. This guitar was one of many guitars very much in the close out category of this folder (see the inside cover).
