Page 7. The solid body series continues with two guitars first available in 1979, the Flying V II and Explorer II. The early 1980s were a great time for Flying V and Explorer -styled guitars; numerous variants would be released, both harking back to the 50s originals, and firmly in the present day metal scene, but these two models did not last, this being the final catalog inclusion of each.
Both the E2, and V2 were available in a choice of predominant body wood. The guitars were actually a laminate of both walnut and maple, so there were guitars with maple (Explorer II, below) or walnut (Flying V-II) tops.
