This page shows two Gibson jazz guitars, one very old: the Gibson ES-175D, first launched in 1949 (actually 1953 as a two pickup model see the ES-175 timeline) and a much newer model, only debuting in the UK the previous year (at the 1980 British Music Fair), the Howard Roberts Fusion. Actually, as the name suggests, the Fusion was not just a jazz guitar, but a "synthesis of the jazz and rock guitar, capable of producing extraordinary tone colours characteristic of either style".
