Gibson 1980 guitar, bass and banjo catalog. Page 3, contents. At 63 pages, this was one of Gibson's longest catalogues. It is separated into nine 'segments': seven in the Professional series, and one each in the Firebrand and Sonex series. Guitar shops had to be authorised to stock the Gibson range, however the Sonex series were branded differently, with "Gibson Guitar Co." on the headstock, not "Gibson". This allowed these guitars to be authorised separately, and presumably to a wider range of dealers.
Gibson produced new models throughout the Norlin era, and the new models for 1980 included here are the Sonex series, the 335-S series, and the Howard Roberts Fusion.
