The Gibson 'Electric Bass Series' catalog was initially prepared in 1974 for circulation from early 1975. However this was then reprinted (with changes) for 1976, to include the new Gibson G-3 bass. The original eight page booklet was expanded to twelve, with six pages unchanged, two modified, and four new pages added.
The dimensions of this catalog remain unchanged: 7 1/2" x 11" and full-colour throughout.
The front cover, as with the 1975 edition featured Peter Cetera of Chicago playing the L9-S Ripper bass.
Gibson believes in offering a wide variety of basses, each with its own wide variety of sounds. That's why Gibson bassists are so varied - Peter Cetera from Chicago, Greg Lake, Dee Murray with Elton John, Grand Funk's Mel Schacher, the Doobie Brother's Tiran Porter and so on.
The full bass line up for 1976 was as listed below. Click on the thumbnails for larger versions of each page, or click on the model names below to jump to the relevant page.
Gibson originated the violin shaped electric bass. And since that time Gibson has gone on to develop a complete range of basses to fit every variety of music played today
