Gibson 1976 bass catalog. Page 10. Left hand page of a double page spread on a new model, the Gibson G-3 bass (making its very first catalog appearance). This page shows a detailed view of the Bill Lawrence designed G-3 pickups, with clear plastic covers, with a full image and detailed specifications on the following page.
This catalog is a reprint of the 1975 'Electric Bass Series' catalog, updated and expanded a year later, specifically to include these pages on the new Gibson G-3 bass (or Grabber III as it is called here).
Gibson believes in offering a wide variety of basses, each with its own wide variety of sounds. That's why Gibson bassists are so varied - Peter Cetera from Chicago, Greg Lake, Dee Murray with Elton John, Grand Funk's Mel Schacher, the Doobie Brother's Tiran Porter and so on.
