1969 owners manual for the Les Paul Personal and Les Paul Professional guitars. Page 4 shows the Les Paul Professional guitar, and details it's components and controls. For more detailed description of the controls, see page 3.
The Professional was basically the same as the Personal, functionally speaker, but lacked some of the later's finer appointments: the split diamond headstock inlay, and gold plated parts; the Professional had just a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo, and nickel plated hardware. Finally the fretboard was of Brazilian rosewood rather than ebony. There was one functional difference however - the Professional lacked the vocal microphone jack (and associated volume control) positioned on the top rim of the Personal.
The Les Paul Professional had a September 1969 US list price of $485.
