Gibson 1962 guitar and amplifier catalogue. Page 6. The 1962 catalogues opens with thinline electric Spanish models. Details of the Gibson Byrdland and it's simplified sibling the ES-350TD. The Byrdland was a high end jazz guitar, only available by special order from the Gibson custom instrument department, in the main Kalamazoo plant. It's body shape had changed since the last catalogue. Previously, the Byrdland had a Venetian cutaway - changed here to a Florentine. The inset image of Hank Garland also appears in the 1960 Gibson catalogue, yet has been modified to remain consistent with the new cutaway style. See the 1960 Gibson Byrdland catalog page.
This was the last catalog appearance of the ES350TD; it was not included in the 1964 Gibson guitar catalogue - It was however reissued in 1977 as the ES-350T - but with the previous Venetian cutaway body style - see it in the 1978 Quality / Prestige / Innovation catalogue.
1962 prices for these guitars are as follows: (Zone 1, USA, Oct 1962 price list) Byrdland $650 ($665 natural finish), ES350TD $485 ($500 natural finish).
