I have owned and enjoyed playing this 1920 Gibson A2 mandolin Ser. 58315 for more than 45 years. I have other mandolins and it??s time for someone else to enjoy this one. This oval hole mandolin creates a warm mellow tone and its straight neck and low action make it easy to play. I replaced the original bridge with an adjustable one, so you can easily adjust the action if you want. It??s perfect for folk, Celtic, Irish, old-time, classical, and jazz, but a lot of Bluegrass players use ... more

I bought this about 15 years ago and the top had sunk, especially on the bass side. I made a bridge to fit that got the strings to the right playing height and played it like that for a while. I bought a Lebeda F model mandola and since I had two , I decided to get this one repaired. I took it to a buddy that builds and repairs instruments and asked him about it. He studied about it for a while and said he would take on the job. He took his time and worked the top as much as he could then put... more

This is a first-year production Kalamazoo Oriole "A" style short scale mandolin made by Gibson. This is a low production style and was only made for about 2 years (early 1940s). The Kalamazoo brand was Gibson's budget line of musical instruments during and immediately after The Great Depression era. The Oriole mandolin and L-OO style guitar differed from other models in the Kalamazoo line, in that they were X braced and were in a natural finish (like the higher priced Gibson branded ... more

Purchased Mandolin in Brasstown NC in 2007 from a dealer. Played a little but never stuck with it. The mandolin has been stored in case and inside since the date of purchase. It is quite old, I??ve been told anywhere from 1910 a 1920, so there is a little wear on the body. It has been recently professionally inspected, cleaned, humidified, and restrung by a local music shop (receipt included in pictures).
