Fender 1970 guitar and bass catalog. Page 8. Details of the semi-acoustic version of the Fender Telecaster; the Telecaster Thinline. Pictured is a natural mahogany example, with maple fretboard - unlike the completely solid Telecaster and Tele Custom of the previous page, the Thinline Telecaster is not listed with a rosewood fretboard. This was the last Fender catalog to list Natural Mahogany as a finish for this guitar (remaining in in price lists until early early '72), and the last to show the Telecaster series exclusively equipped with single coil pickups - the Telecaster Thinline from the 1972 catalogue shows a guitar with dual Fender humbuckers.
The base price of $375 is for Sunburst, natural Ash or Mahogany finishes - Custom colours were $392.50. Left-handed models were an additional $35 on top of these prices (April 1970 Fender price list). Custom finishes available are shown on page 95 of this catalog. Although a Bigsby tremolo is mentioned as an option on this page (for right handed models only?) it is not included as an option in the 1970 price list. The prices in the '71 list, however, are unchanged, and Bigsby equipped models are $65 more than non-tremolo guitars.
