Two sided promo card for the Epiphone Emperor F. The Emperor F reissued in 1982 was the first full body depth (3 1/2" deep) version of this guitar available since the mid 1950s, when the Stathopoulos family owned the Epiphone brand. When Gibson bought Epiphone and started producing Emperors in 1959 (until 1968), they were given the same thinline construction of the Gibson ES guitars, with central maple block to reduce feedback.
But the 1982 reissue was actually of two models, borrowing from the 1950s Stathopoulos-era original, and the 1960s Kalamazoo-built first reissue. The model shown below, the Emperor F, like the thinline Emperor T kept many of the original features: the pearl/abalone block inlays, Frequensator tailpiece and "tree of life" headstock design, but its deep body lacked the feedback reducing central block. Its body shape had changed somewhat too - still single cutaway, but with a more Gibson than Epiphone profile.
The full body Epiphone Emperor had a 1982 list price of $989.95, compared to $899.95 of the thinline version.
