Epiphone 1962 'guitars, basses, amplifiers', page 19. This is the second page of Epiphone upright basses in this catalog, with two models described: the Epiphone B4 Professional and Studio BV. Like the B5 Artist bass shown on the previous page, the Epiphone B4 bass is listed as available in two finishes, Blonde (note, not Natural!) or Shaded finish, whilst the BV was only available in the Shaded finish. These basses were shipped between 1959 and 1964, with the BV being the most popular model. Actually none of these basses were produced in large numbers: just 295 Epiphone BVs shipped, compared to 212 B4s (both colours combined). 1962 was the peak year (in total) for Epiphone upright basses, with 82 B4 basses shipped - actually slightly more BV basses shipped in 1961, but 75 BV Studio basses shipped in 1962. See Epiphone acoustic bass shipping totals.
