Epiphone 1962 'guitars, basses, amplifiers', page 15. Image and description of the Epiphone Caballero (FT-30) flat top acoustic guitar, and description of the Epiphone Frontier (FT-110), Texan (FT-79) and Cortez (FT-45) - with images of these guitars on page 14).
Whilst the Frontier, Texan (FT-79) and Cortez are all available in Natural or Shaded (Sunburst) finishes, the Caballero (pictured) is only available in Mahogany finish. Actually, the Cortez was only available in Natural finish as of 1962; prior to this only Shaded finish was shipped (see the 1961 Epiphone catalog).
The Texan was the best known of all Epiphone acoustic guitars, largely thanks to the patronage of Beatle Paul McCartney.
A jumbo flat top guitar with a booming voice, fine response, a fast-action neck, and many more fine features, exceptional at its popular price. Made with selected spruce top for finest resonance, mahogany back and rims. Mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod. Rosewood fingerboard with distinctive pearl inlays. Peghead with pearl-inlaid design and name. Attractive ivoroid purfling ring and large shell celluloid to pickguard. Rosewood adjustable bridge. Nickel-plated enclosed machine heads. An outstanding instrument!
