Epiphone 1961 full line catalog, page 9. The Epiphone Coronet (SB533) and Epiphone Olympic (SB722) were Epiphone's entry level solid body guitars. The Olympic was almost identical to the first version of the Gibson Melody Maker, and the Coronet, whilst not especially similar in body style, was analogous to the then brand new Gibson SG Junior.
The Coronet pictured, being an early model, has the symmetrical body and headstock that characterises the earliest Epiphone solid bodies, and a 'New York' pickup - left over from the original Stathopoulos-era Epiphone production. This was the only catalog to show the single cutaway 'Les Paul' style Epiphone Olympic; by the time of the 1962 Epiphone catalogue the Olympic, like the Gibson Melody Maker, had changed to a double cutaway body with far better fretboard access than the version shown here.
