Epiphone 1961 full line catalog. Details of two Epiphone thinline electric guitars, the Epiphone Century (E422T) and Epiphone Sorrento (E452T). These guitars are Epiphone equivalents to the Gibson ES-125T and Gibson ES-125TDC.
The 1961 guitars pictured are early models; note the V-shaped metal headstock plates, black scratchplates and dot inlays on the Sorrento. By the time of the 1962 catalogue, both the Century and Sorrento had inlaid pearl headstock logos, white scratchplates and the Sorrento had Epiphone's oval position markers, also in pearl.
Another interesting feature of this image is the white plastic-covered P90 pickup fitted to the Century - earliest examples of this guitar were fitted with the Epiphone New York pickups inherited by Gibson when they purchased the brand in 1957, and the majority shipped had black covered pickups, just like the Gibson equivalent model ES-125T, but here (and in the '62) catalog they are white.
