This Gretsch advertisement from 1955 features two big Country stars of the time: Eddy Arnold, and Hank "Sugar Foot" Garland. Arnold is featured with his Gretsch flattop with 'Eddie Arnold' neck inlay, whilst Garland has the Gretsch hollow body Country Club.
In this advert, both musicians sing the praises of Gretsch guitars, however neither would stay with the company for long; Garland was already working with Gibson on a new signature model, the Byrdland, whilst Arnold was appearing in Gibson advertising with his spectacular J200 flattop, again with his name inlaind into the fretboard, by 1957.
Eddie Arnold: When it comes to playin' the right background, my Gretsch guitar is natural for tone - and that 'Miracle Neck' is mighty easy on my hands, too
Hank Garland: Man, you've never heard sounds like this before
