The Music Man Sabre descended from the Music Man StingRay in late 1978 - sharing much of the design and functionality, including body style, construction and the the characteristic 3+1 headstock layout. It did, however, have two humbucking pickups (the StingRay had just one) and associated controls. Ernie Ball took over Music Man by 1984, so original pre-Ernie Ball Music Man Sabres are not especially abundant. But they are very effective and pretty desirable instruments today.
The Sabre bass retains all the unique features that made the Music Man StingRay bass the outstanding success that it has become. The modern concepts of these fine instruments employ the latest in technological advances to bring a new standard of performance to today's bass player we are due to play one at your Music Man dealer's today
