Gibson bass 1970 bass catalog. Page 6. Details of the Gibson EB bass. This bass was never commercially available, at least in any significant numbers, and can be considered a statement of intention: Gibson saw a market for a simpler bass, made of less expensive wood, with less routing and no labour intensive finish. In many ways it could be considered a descendant of the Melody Maker bass, and a precursor to the Gibson SB bass range. It was never listed in any Gibson price list, and no model codes are listed here.
“This exciting new addition to the Gibson line meets all professional standards at a very popular price. The custom contoured double cutaway design makes for smooth, easy playing.”
